Directions

The drive

About ninety minutes from Washington, DC. Take I-66 west to Marshall, then a scenic drive down SR 647 — Crest Hill Road — into Rappahannock County. There is plenty of room to park when you arrive.

What to expect

A tasting on the porch or under the trees, depending on the weather. A view across the vines to the Blue Ridge. A pour from whoever is around — usually family. We do not rush.

Bring a hat in summer. Bring a sweater in spring and fall — the elevation cools things off after the sun drops.

What's nearby

Shenandoah National Park is fifteen minutes west. The Thornton Gap entrance puts you on Skyline Drive in under half an hour, and the trailheads for Mary's Rock and Marshall start right there.

Rappahannock County itself is full of small, good places. There are working farms, a handful of nearby wineries and distilleries, and a short list of restaurants in Flint Hill, Sperryville, and Washington (the Virginia one) that locals will tell you about if you ask.

Staying overnight? You can also pitch a tent on the property.
